Going beyond the bean to ensure the survival of people and the planet.
Coffee with purpose
Our coffee with purpose ethos brings together all the things that an organic, sustainable and community-conscious brand stands for. Jabulani coffee means so much more than crop-to-cup, going above and beyond to support the people and communities whose passion and desire for a brighter future captivated us. And we can only hope by sharing their story through a remarkable coffee, that you as conscious consumers are inspired too.
Jabulani coffee has made it our mission to support the people and sustainability of farming in the Gakenke district of Northern Rwanda. To ensure the mountain communities surrounding the plantation are supported in ways that allow them to thrive and encourage the next generation of young farmers. Partnering with businesses and organisations that champion fair trade and organic farming, as well as following high social and ecological standards means that we can provide essential resources and facilities directly to the plantation. Directly to these people. In turn, we are contributing to the promise of a brighter future.
Theresa Nyirangwabije, Cooperative President
“In Rwanda, it’s the women who are most involved with households - so when you help them, you help their whole family. It makes me very proud to be one of the few female Cooperative Presidents, but this is something I would love to see change in the future”
Rebuilding a nation after such a time faces its own challenges, combatting this against climate change and cost of living crisis that is effecting us all worldwide means that it’s time for humanity to rise up.
Find it within ourselves to simply do the right things that provide opportunity, growth and the survival of people and our planet.
What the future
holds
Currently in Rwanda three in ten children don’t make it past the age of five years old. A big part of this statistic within the mountain regions is down to mothers having to leave their children home alone while working many miles away at plantations like ours.
We have committed profits from our coffee sales to be invested back into these communities, with ambitions to build essential facilities on the plantation land such as a day care nursery and IT centre to support the families of the farm and neighbouring towns. The importance of these Social Impact projects not only provide essential support, they allow the children to be a part of the future of farming and agriculture in Rwanda by experiencing and learning first hand. As well as receiving the care and important education they need to survive.
